Agricultural harnesses
Custom BioThane® work and draft harnesses
Because the comfort of draft horses is the key to successful field work, custom agricultural harnesses are designed and adapted. Created to be used with French or American collars, these work harnesses combine modern technical performance with respect for equestrian traditions. They are made primarily from BioThane®, an ultra‑resistant technical strap that is rot‑proof and maintenance‑free, ideal for intensive use in agricultural or forestry environments. Carefully crafted in a workshop near Florac, this equipment ensures safety, durability and freedom of movement.

Work harnesses are made to fit either American collars or French collars. These custom-made harnesses are crafted from BIOTHANE® (the genuine one), except for the breeching, which is made of leather with flax seeds inside for the horse’s comfort, or in urethane, a very supple, smooth and comfortable material for the horse. It is shown here with rope traces and a bit hanger.
Reins are also made in Brahma Webb® (a synthetic material similar to Biothane®), black in color, 19, 22 or 25 mm wide and approximately 3.6 mm thick (the usual width is 22 mm). The recommended length is 6 m, but they can be made to other dimensions on request. The ends are left free, but a small tie is provided to fasten them and adjust them to the desired length.
It is entirely possible to convert the agricultural harness into a Granvallier harness by fitting a breeching in place of the spider (everything is planned for this!).
The price of the harness with its traces is 300 Euros.
